Doug
Womers health care experience goes back to 1987 when he joined the Johns Hopkins
Health System as the Accounting Manager at Francis Scott Key Medical Center in Baltimore.
Since then he has served as:
- Controller
and Chief Financial Officer of the Johns Hopkins Medical Services Corporation, a
subsidiary of the Johns Hopkins Health System that managed and owned a multi-specialty
group practice with eighteen delivery sites in Maryland;
- Corporate
Director of Financial Planning at EPIC Healthcare Group in Dallas, a $1.5 billion, 43
hospital system with operating locations throughout the southern USA; and
- Corporate
Director of Managed Care and Regional Vice President of the Sisters of Charity of the
Incarnate Word Health Care System in Houston, a multi-hospital system with ten owned or
managed facilities (2537 beds) in Texas and Louisiana.
As
a Consultant with The Tompkins Group, Doug brings financial, managerial and analytic
skills to our clients. In the past he has:
- evaluated,
negotiated, and managed capitated HMO contracts on behalf of hospitals, physician groups,
and integrated delivery systems;
- converted
the information system of a medical group to a fully integrated practice management and
managed care system;
- developed
and implemented cost control and revenue enhancement changes in tax exempt and proprietary
health care organizations, substantially improving the bottom line;
- negotiated
and successfully implemented inpatient utilization management programs for commercial and
Medicare populations resulting in large decreases in inpatient days per thousand;
- developed
and managed a full service financial services department for a multi-site, primary care
medical group; and
- provided
financial analysis and advice in strategic business planning, HMO contracting, and health
care delivery system product development.
Doug
is a licensed C.P.A. in the State of Maryland; he received a B.S. in business
administration from Gettysburg College and an M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore. He
is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Medical
Group Management Association.
