James M. Krauk
Senior Consultant
Jim
Krauk has over 25 years of management and consulting experience in telecommunications and
information systems, most recently as Vice President and Chief Information Officer with
the Helix Health System in Baltimore, Maryland. With Helix, Jim was responsible for:
- developing
and implementing a system-wide information services (IS) strategic plan that called for
building a fully integrated IS network; and
- consolidating
all aspects of IS and managing 150 professional employees and an annual operating budget
of $16 million.
From
1965 to 1985, Jim was with AT&T in numerous roles including:
- head
of AT&Ts 1984 Summer Olympics Operations in Los Angeles where he led the
planning, implementation, and management of the largest temporary telecommunications
network ever installed;
- Lead
Manager for the Computer Systems Planning Organization which developed a nationwide IS
network and brought on-line the first of four national consolidated data centers;
- Manager
of a regional data processing organization with six data centers and a $20 million annual
operating budget; and
- Director
of the development team for a computerized materials management system, one of the first
systems to use distributed data processing technology.
As
a consultant, Jim has helped clients to:
- identify
strategic opportunities that increase market share and profitability;
- select
the appropriate technologies for implementing those strategies; and
- manage
the implementation process to guarantee a competitive advantage.
His
clients have included organizations of all sizes from both the public and private sectors,
with a special focus on the health care industry.
Jim
has a B.S. in engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He is a member of the Healthcare
Information and Management Systems Society, the Maryland Society for Healthcare IS
Management, and the Premier Information Systems Advisory Committee.
