Richard M. Cameron, M.H.S.A.
Vice President, Practice Management
In
his more than 24 years in the health care industry, Rick Cameron has provided senior
management leadership for hospitals, managed care organizations, and physician group
practices. His many roles include:
- Executive
Director for Medical Specialists, Inc. of Zanesville, Ohio, a 26-physician multi-specialty
group managed by Cornerstone Physicians Corporation of Irvine, California;
- many
senior leadership positions developing and operating innovative provider delivery networks
and managed care products throughout the Midwest for CoreSource, Inc. of Northbrook,
Illinois;
- President
and Chief Executive Officer of Community Hospital of Anderson and Madison County, Indiana;
and
- several
management positions over a period of 13 years at Henry Ford Hospital and Health System of
Detroit, Michigan, including Senior Associate Administrator.
As
a Consultant with The Tompkins Group, Rick brings to our clients significant experience in
hospital and physician group operations, finance, marketing, human resources, planning,
and organizational development. In the past he has:
- improved
the performance of a medical group such that physician compensation increased by 20
percent;
- consolidated
practice operations to keep overhead below MGMA norms;
- developed
and implemented new business services achieving projected profit goals;
- re-negotiated
all contracts covering the spectrum of managed care;
- recruited
and integrated new physicians from a variety of backgrounds;
- developed
and managed a unique payer-provider joint venture designed to facilitate risk sharing in a
rural area;
- developed
primary care networks and integrated delivery systems in six states to support the
expanded delivery goals of both providers and payers;
- created
and implemented managed care products serving over 100,000 members in four states;
- created
a joint board/physician/administration development program to assure ongoing hospital
leadership effectiveness; and
- developed
and expanded new clinical programs addressing specific community health needs.
Rick
earned his M.H.S.A. at The University of Michigan and a B.S. in management science at
Oakland University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the
American Hospital Association, and the Medical Group Management Association.
